what is homeopathy?  Glyph1 like treats like

Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine that was developed over 200 years ago by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. It has been used predominantly in Europe, United Kingdom, India and South America. The word, “Homeopathy” comes from the Greek words homios, meaning similar, and pathos, meaning suffering.

This scientific concept of “similar suffering” was pondered centuries ago by Paracelsus and Hippocrates. By this principal, a substance that can elicit symptoms in a healthy person can cure the same symptoms in a person who is ill. For example an onion can cause burning, watery eyes and runny nose. A homeopathic preparation of it, known by its Latin name Allium cepa, can relieve the same symptoms in allergies or a cold. Homeopathy employs the Law of Similars through a unique method of preparation that ensures that remedies are non-toxic. In this way Homeopathy fulfills the Hippocratic Oath “do no harm,” while providing us with remedies for any illness. A constitutional consultation for chronic illness includes an in-depth case-taking procedure during which all past physical, mental and emotional history will be incorporated into presenting symptoms. This initial consultation takes between an hour and an hour and a half and lays the ground for continuous research into the individual's case on the part of the homeopath to decide on the right remedy. The last part of the consultation includes a discussion on preventative health care. A consultation for an acute or post-surgical procedures takes approximately half an hour since the entire picture has to be found.
